Main points to ponder

Miracles: “A miracle is an extraordinary event caused by the power of God. Miracles are an important element in the work of Jesus Christ. They include healings, restoring the dead to life, and resurrection. Miracles are a part of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Faith is necessary in order for miracles to be manifested” (Guide to the Scriptures, 165).

Miracles don’t always necessarily mean that the laws of physics are going to be broken. Latter-day Saints believe that modern day prophets perform miracles all the time. But, in most cases, in order to realize that a miracle happened, the person must have faith first. Even in Biblical times, prophets may have performed miracles by natural means.

See Mark 6:5–6, John 2:11, 2 Nephi 27:23, Alma 23:6, Mormon 9:10–20, Ether 12:12; also, Bible Dictionary, “Miracles”; Do You Need a Miracle? Elder Larry W. Gibbons

Jesus Christ’s miracles “manifested forth his glory.” Consider what the miracles of Jesus teach you about him as you read John 2:1–11, John 3:1–21. See also Matthew 21:12–15; Luke 5:18–20; Mark 10:51–52; Luke 8:43–44, 46–48; 3 Nephi 17:7–9; John 5:2–9; John 21:4–6.

I must be born again to enter the kingdom of God.

What do these scriptures teach you about being “born again”? John 3:1–21, John 3:5, Alma 5:11–14. See also Mosiah 5:7; 27:25–26; David A. Bednar, “Ye Must Be Born Again,” Ensign or Liahona, May 2007, 19–22.

Heavenly Father shows His love for me through Jesus Christ.

Read and ponder John 3:16–17. Consider also Elder Jeffrey R. Holland, “Tomorrow the Lord Will Do Wonders among You,” Ensign or Liahona, May 2016, 127). How have you felt the love of God through the gift of His Son?

Is God a spirit?

John 4:24, Joseph Smith Translation John 4:24, footnote a. Modern revelation also teaches that God has a body of flesh and bones (see Doctrine and Covenants 130:22–23; see also Genesis 5:1–3; Hebrews 1:1–3).

Christ offers me His living water.

John 4:5–26 What might Jesus have meant when He told the Samaritan woman that whoever drinks the water He offers will never thirst? How is the gospel like living water?

Worship

One of the Savior’s messages to the Samaritan woman was that how we worship is more important than where we worship (see John 4:21–24). What are you doing to “worship the Father in spirit and in truth”? (John 4:23). See also Guide to the Scriptures, “Worship,” scriptures.ChurchofJesusChrist.org; Dean M. Davies, “The Blessings of Worship,” Ensign or Liahona, Nov. 2016, 93–95.
