Matthew S. McBride

Matthew S. McBride is director of the Publications Division of the Church History Department of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He earned a master’s degree in American history from the University of Utah.
Matt is the author of A House for the Most High: The Story of the Original Nauvoo Temple and co-editor of Revelations in Context: The Stories behind the Sections of the Doctrine and Covenants. He also co-edited The Joseph Smith Papers: Documents, Volume 13 and contributed to Saints: The Story of the Church of Jesus Christ in the Latter Days.
His scholarship includes research on the history of women’s missionary service. His article on the origins of the Church’s women’s missionary program received the Mormon History Association’s Best Article Award for 2018.
Before becoming director of publications, Matt worked in digital content management for the Church History Department and held leadership positions in web development and digital publishing at Deseret Book Company.
Matt and his wife, Mary, have four children.
