Alongside his technical studies, he has pursued a longstanding interest in Latter-day Saint history and theology, with particular attention to the Old Testament and the relationship between ancient Israelite worship and modern Latter-day Saint temple practice.
At FAIR’s 2025 Virtual Conference, Ancient Truths for Modern Faith, Golightly presented “Who Shall Ascend Into the Hill of the Lord?: An Old Testament Framework for Understanding the Exclusive Nature of the Temple.” His presentation examined biblical concepts of sacred space, holiness, preparation, and access to the presence of God as a framework for understanding modern Latter-day Saint temple worship.
Golightly’s work reflects an interdisciplinary interest in bringing careful scriptural study into conversation with questions facing Latter-day Saints today.
