Marvin Perkins interviews Ed and Wanda Willis who discuss their past involvement with the Black Panthers and the way in which they both joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They are joined by Bishop Fred Bethel from the African American outreach program.

Two of the DVD’s referenced in the interview are available at the FAIR Bookstore, Nobody Knows: The Untold Story of Black Mormons and Blacks in the Scriptures.

This interview has been provided courtesy of Marvin Perkins and Blacks in the Scriptures.

Just finished listening to this this morning during my run. Absolutely inspirational. These are the stories people need to hear about our church. Thank you to everyone who put this together!

Thank you for this conversation. I am a red headed, freckled faced Australian who has been a member all her life so I have little comprehension of the African American experience – except through books and documentaries.
I appreciate the experiences shared – Brother and Sister Willis remind me of my father, who as a young man was committed to social justice and a card carrying communist until he joined the church in 1952 – later serving as a Bishop, Stake Councillor and Patriarch.
God less you and your family and thank you again.
