FairMormon’s Front Page News Review is a show that provides context and analysis of the past week’s media coverage of Mormons and the LDS church. Hosted by Nick Galieti manager of the FairMormon Front Page news service, Cassandra Hedelius.

We hope this will be an edifying and entertaining experience. What we present is not to be understood as being the official position of FairMormon or The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We speak for ourselves, and sometimes not even then.

I’m surprised that Cassandra can “defend” the church’s position in the new anti-discrimination law (because “she’s a lawyer, and unlike the reporters, she understands the law”) when, in her own words, she didn’t read the text of the bill. It’s not that long or complicated and it’s easily accessible online.

Saying that she didn’t actually read this, or hear that, but give opinions on this matter anyway is something I noticed that is mentioned frequently on the show. It just doesn’t lead credibility or professionalism.

Thanks for your concern. I’d read enough analysis about the bill (by non-journalists) that I felt comfortable opining, but still lacked clarity on that one point. For any who want to read the whole glorious thing, go here: http://le.utah.gov/~2015/bills/static/SB0296.html
