In Memoriam: Sarah Allen

It is with profound sorrow that we share the passing of Sarah Allen, a beloved contributor to FAIR and a devoted defender of faith in Jesus Christ and His restored gospel. Sarah passed away suddenly this weekend, and those of us who knew her are devastated by her loss.

After earlier professional work, Sarah devoted her full energies to helping others navigate difficult questions about Church history, doctrine, and belief. She served with Scripture Central, with FAIR, and in many informal but meaningful spaces where faithful answers were urgently needed. Drawing on the story of Jonah, he showed how feelings of fear, shame, or inadequacy can lead individuals to distance themselves from God—not because mercy has been withdrawn, but because they mistakenly believe they no longer qualify for it.

The Lord Looketh on the Heart

In his October 2025 General Conference address, “The Lord Looketh on the Heart,” Elder Sergio R. Barcellos taught that God’s measure of discipleship is fundamentally different from the world’s. While people often evaluate faithfulness by outward appearance, performance, or visible success, the Lord looks first at the heart—our desires, intentions, and willingness to turn toward Him.

Elder Barcellos emphasized that this inward focus does not diminish obedience or covenant living. Rather, it places them in their proper order. True discipleship begins with the heart. When the heart is turned to Christ, outward obedience follows naturally and meaningfully.

This invites a careful reconsideration of how discipleship is sometimes measured.

All God needs to accomplish His purposes and to help us become who He wants us to become is for each of us to turn our hearts fully to Him.

The Family Proclamation—Words from God

In his October 2025 General Conference address, “The Family Proclamation—Words from God,” Elder Ronald A. Rasband testified that The Family: A Proclamation to the World is not merely a cultural statement or institutional guideline, but revealed doctrine given by God through His prophets. He explained how the proclamation came forth through prayer, prophetic councils, and spiritual unanimity—and why its teachings deserve reverence in every generation.

Yet its clarity has also made it controversial. As social views on family, marriage, and gender continue to shift, many struggle with how the proclamation fits in a changing world.

This raises a common and sincere question:

The Eternal Gift of Testimony

In his October 2025 General Conference address, “The Eternal Gift of Testimony,” Elder Kevin G. Brown taught that testimony is a divine gift from God—one that is meant to endure opposition, grow through effort, and be strengthened by righteous choice. Drawing on personal experience and prophetic teaching, he emphasized that testimony is not something we passively receive and then permanently possess, but something we must actively choose, nurture, and defend.
